The Police and Department of State Security (DSS) have withdrawn their personnel from the security teams of Adewale Omirin, speaker of Ekiti state house of assembly, Adetunji Orisalade, the deputy speaker, who were both ‘impeached’ on Thursday by seven members of the 26-man assembly.
According to Wole Olujobi, special adviser on media to the speaker, the withdrawal followed the invasion of the Speaker’s Lodge on Thursday evening by Mr Dele Olugbemi, the ‘new speaker’ who led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in a forceful occupation of the building.
Omirin and Orisalade were in Lagos when they received calls to inform them that their security details had been withdrawn.
