Soldiers and Boko Haram fighters are currently exchanging gunfire in Jakana, a village in Kaga local government area of Borno state.
Residents told TheCable that the insurgents stormed the village, 10 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital, around 6:30pm.
Grema Bashir, a witness, said the sect members came on motorcycles and Toyo Hilux vehicles.
Bashir said they opened fire while chanting ‘Allahu Akbar”.

He added that security forces later engaged the attackers.
Although the current administration has claimed victory over insurgency, Boko Haram has continued to carry out attacks, with Borno being the worst hit.
