Nigerian military authorities said nine Boko Haram suspects have been killed in two separate incidents on Monday.
Defence spokesman Major-Gen. Chris Olukolade said troops on patrol successfully “repelled an ambush” in Buratai community, Biu, Borno state.
He said the troops engaged the terrorists in “decisive fire fight” in which four of them died and one was captured alive.
In another encounter, this time in Kawuri, also in Borno, he said the insurgents engaged troops in a shoot-out and five of them were killed.
