The week’s federal executive council (FEC) meeting has been rescheduled due to the meeting.
The president’s meeting with the security chiefs began at 2:00pm.

On August 2, Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff (CDS), warned that the military will intervene if the nationwide protest escalates.
Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police (IGP), had also said the police may lean on other security agencies — including the military — if necessary.
Suspected hoodlums have hijacked protests in Kano, Kaduna and Yobe, with looting and vandalism the order of the day.

Police operatives have used teargas canisters on protesters in Abuja and Lagos.
More than 14 people have been reported killed nationwide since the demonstrations commenced on August 1.
