In a statement issued on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2019, Buhari had extolled his virtues, and described him as a visionary in “advocating integration of communication strategies in development plans and implementations”.

“The President believes the former minister’s sacrifice for the growth of democracy and journalism in Nigeria will be remembered by posterity, encouraging him to always stick to the progressive ideals that have brought him recognition and enconmiums, and continue to inspire younger leaders in the same path,” a statement by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, read.

Momoh had also served as the chairman, media and publicity, of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
