Troops ‘flush terrorists out of Gulak’

The Nigerian military says its men have flushed out terrorists from Gulak, Madagali local government area of Adamawa state.

Making the announcement via its Twitter account, the defence headquarters said Bara, Gulani local government area of neighbouring Yobe state, was cleansed of insurgents as well.

“After two days of intense operations, troops have finally routed terrorists from #BARA, Gulani LGA in Yobe,” it said.

“Many assorted arms, ammunition and vehicles recovered or destroyed. Cordon and Search OPs #now in #Gulag and #Bara.”

The liberation of Gulag comes one day after President Goodluck Jonathan visited the troops at Mubi in Adamawa state and at Baga in Borno state.

Mubi and Baga, former strongholds of Boko Haram, were retaken by Nigerian troops about two weeks ago.
