Last Friday, Nigerian troops retook Gulak and Bara in Adamawa state, just a day after President Jonathan’s visit to Mubi in Adamawa, and Baga in Borno state.
The president’s visit to Baga was seen as a historic one to the fishing town where dozens of people were killed by Boko Haram militants in January.

Amnesty International described the Boko Haram onslaught on Baga as “possibly the deadliest” in the history of insurgency in the country.
Lately, Nigerian troops have stepped up attacks on the insurgents at Sambisa and Gwoza, capturing and displacing many of them.
