Tracka, a civil tech platform that tracks the implementation of government projects, has rolled out activities to commemorate its 10th anniversary.

The organisation will organise the active citizens festival, an entertainment event with the theme ‘Building people, moulding nations’.

The festival will take place at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on September 14.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Monday, Ayomide Ladipo, head of Tracka, said the organisation has “facilitated the completion” of over 11,800 projects worth N5.3 trillion in over 3,500 Nigerian communities in the last decade.

Ladipo said Tracka has used social advocacy techniques and active citizen mobilisation to “facilitate improved service delivery” for Nigerians.

She said the organisation is excited about its milestone in the areas of project monitoring and tracking in Nigeria.

She added that the active citizens festival will celebrate the organisation’s achievements and “inspire the next generation of Nigerians to engage actively in governance”.

Tracka, the project tracking arm of BudgIT, a civic-tech organisation, was established in July 2014 to “track the implementation of government projects, participate in the governance process, and advocate for development”.

As part of the activities to mark the 10th anniversary, a national essay competition for students in secondary schools across the country will be held.

Participants in the competition will write a 500-word essay on the ‘The Nigerian utopia’.

Organisers of the competition said students are meant to submit a PDF document of the essay via email to [email protected], using ‘Essay Submission for Tracka@10’ as the subject of the email alongside a letter of approval from the school authorities.

The body of the email should contain the student’s first and last name, the school’s name and address, and the school’s contact details, including email address and phone number.
