President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Abike Dabiri-Erewa as his senior special assistant on foreign affairs and the Diaspora.
A presidential source confirmed this to TheCable, saying a statement would be issued later.
A three-term member of the lower chamber of the national assembly, Dabiri-Erewa toured the length and breadth of the country with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign team in the buildup to the 2015 election.
She was also a member of the planning committee of the APC national convention where Buhari emerged as the flagbearer of the party.

After working at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for fifteen years, Dabiri-Erewa retired to pursue her political ambition.
While at NTA, she anchored the weekly NTA Newsline programme, which focused on poverty and social justice issues.
She obtained her first degree in English Language from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, and a post graduate diploma (PGD) in mass communication as well as a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos.

She also studied at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.
