Buhari appoints Kafarati as chief judge of federal high court

President Muhammadu Buhari addresses the guests during the Democracy Day Lecture held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Adamu Kafarati as the chief judge of the federal high court.

Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.

The president based his request on section 250 (1) of the constitution.

“In accordance with the provisions of Section 250 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended, i write to request for the confirmation of the senate, the appointment of honourable justice Adamu Abdul Kafarati as the chief judge of the federal high court,” the letter read.

“It is my hope that the distinguished senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner. Please accept, senate president, the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Until his appointment Abdul Kafarati was the acting chief judge of the federal high court.
