President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as the new director-general of the Budget Office of the Federation.
According to a statement by Marshall Gundu, director of press and public relations at the federal ministry of finance, the appointment takes effect from Tuesday, August 18, 2015 with a term of four years renewable for another four years.
Gusau hails from Zamfara state. He has a bachelor of science (BSc) degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Before his appointment, he was the director, fiscal policy, budget monitoring and evaluation. He was also acting director- general, Budget Office at the exit of the former DG, Bright Okogu.
Okogu, Gusau’s predecessor, was appointed to office in December 2007, for a period of eight years.

He was a senior economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington DC; senior operations officer at Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Fund and market analyst, OPEC secretariat in Vienna, Austria.
He holds a bachelor of science and masters of science degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a doctorate degree in Economics from the University of Oxford.
