Buhari bags UFUK Dialogue peace award

UFUK Dialogue, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that promotes dialogue and a culture of coexistence, has honoured former President Muhammadu Buhari with a peace award.

At the 8th annual UFUK Dialogue and friendship iftar dinner and award ceremony, the former president was recognised for promoting national peace and security during his tenure.

Buhari was elected in 2015 and served two terms, which ended in 2023.

The UFUK Dialogue lauded Buhari for his contributions to stabilising Nigeria amidst security challenges, including the Boko Haram insurgency and communal conflicts.

Emrah Ilgen, the president of Ufuk Dialogue, said the former president prioritised national stability by implementing policies aimed at combating insurgency, strengthening security infrastructure, and fostering international cooperation in peacebuilding efforts.

“The awards we present tonight are not merely trophies; they are symbols of what is possible when people choose to stand for peace, justice, and unity,” Ilgen said.

“They remind us that change does not come from grand gestures alone but from the daily acts of kindness, the willingness to listen, and the courage to embrace those different from us.”
