Buhari commiserates with Adamawa community over insurgents attack

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with Kwapre community in Hong LGA of Adamawa state over recent attacks by suspected Boko Haram members.

On April 9, Boko Haram insurgents attacked the community, leading to the destruction of properties and lives lost.

On Sunday, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, on behalf of the president, visited the community to commiserate with them.

Mustapha said the president is deeply saddened by the attack and the level of destruction, noting that his administration will do all things to protect the lives and properties of citizens.

“I am in Kwapre to see things under the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari and to sympathise and condole with the community,” he was quoted to have said by NAN.

“I have seen the level of destructions which is tragic of monumental dimension.

“I am deeply saddened by what I saw and am assuring the community, the government will do all that is possible to protect lives and property of the citizens.”

He noted that the information available shows that over 78 houses,12 shops, schools, and four worship centres were destroyed, noting that the federal government will help to reconstruct properties that were destroyed.

“Government is going to take steps that will be quite effective to curtail the menace as much as possible,” he said.

“Government is going to help the community to reconstruct places destroyed.”

Musa Zarami, Manager, Humanitarian Affairs, North East Development Commission ( NEDC ) said that the commission had provided relief materials to the victims.

“The materials donated include bags of rice, maize, blankets, mats, detergents cooking oil among others,”  Zarami said.
