President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, departed Daura in Katsina state for Abuja after participating in Saturday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress.
The president’s helicopter, marked NAF-540, took off from the Daura helipad at 9:25am.
According to NAN, Buhari was seen off at the departure point by Umar Farouk, the emir of Daura, top party officials and several well-wishers.
There were reports that Buhari would stop over at the state capital to commiserate with the family of the late chief imam of Katsina, Muhammadu Lawal, who died on Sunday at the age of 95.

The congress was marred by violence nationwide.
In Imo, suspected thugs invaded the secretariat of the APC in the state, holding party officials to ransom.
All efforts by Rochas Okorocha, governor of the state, to bring the situation under control did not yield the desired result.

On Sunday, Okorocha visited Buhari in Daura and briefed about the crisis.
Addressing reporters at the end of the meeting, the governor said Buhari would take action.
“I intimated Mr. President and we will make sure that such things must stop. He spoke like the president and he will take the necessary steps to correct this in our party APC not just in Imo state but across the whole nation, and to also make sure that there is respect for internal democracy in Imo state,” he had said.
