President Muhammadu Buhari and Lawal Daura,director-general of the department of state service (DSS), observed the eid-el-kabir prayer in Daura, Katsina state on Thursday.
Both men hail from the town.
According to NAN, the prayer, which started around 9:30 am, was led by Safiyanu Yusuf, chief imam of Daura.
In his sermon, the imam laid emphasis on the importance of sacrifice in Islam, saying such sacrifice could be done with ram, sheep, goat, cow or camel.

Yusuf urged the people to continue to pray for peace, unity and stability in the country.
Umar Farouq, the emir of Daura, directed all mosques in the emirate to organise special prayer for peace and stability in the nation.
He also prayed for the president to have the wisdom to lead the country right.

‘’We need to intensify prayer for peace and stability in the country, because nothing can be achieved without peace,’’ he said.
Buhari is expected to leave for the United Nations summit in the United States later in the day.
