Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari is free to contest another election.
Since the constitution limits Buhari to just one more term, the former president might be referring to 2019.
Obasanjo spoke in reaction to a report that he has advised Buhari not to seek re-election.
Alex Nwokedi, the ex-president’s chief press secretary (CPS), was said to have made the comment on his behalf.

Describing the report as completelt false and destructive, Obasanjo said the last time he communicated with Nwokedi was three years ago.
“My belief is that democracy allowed for anybody including President Buhari for that matter to contest any election and it is the prerogative rights of Nigerians to vote or not to vote for them,” read a statement issued on behalf of the ex-president by Kehinde Akinyemi, his media aide.
“I have not communicated with Alex in the last three years, so how a story could be credited to me, when I did not authorize such or communicate with him in the last three years?

“I condemn in the highest manner the story and those behind it. And for those behind it, they are simply enemies of democracy and freedom of expression.”

People like obj are the ones destroying Nigeria with selfish artitude and they do not care about tomorrow or the children growing up. Obj is only interested in keeping his oil well and treating the rest of Nigerians as animals. Nigeria is not a banana republic and we are no monkeys.
Does he (OBJ) have an oil well? The answer is capital NO. I sincerely don’t see anything wrong with the clarification he has given. He was quoted to have said certain things and he said he did not.
Accirding to our Constitution, Buhari is free to contest the next election. Although, I sincerely hope and pray he will not. He doesn’t seem to know what to do, especially with our economy etc. He only seem to be succeeding in promoting ethnic and religious sentiments that is tearing the nation apart.
