President Muhammadu Buhari may have cut down the number of ministries from about 29 to 25, judging by the posting of permanent secretaries done on Tuesday.
The development became clearer following the replacement of the permanent secretaries who were retired earlier on Tuesday.
A statement issued by Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, revealed that the president has embarked on some reforms which led to the merger of some ministries.
The ministries of transport and aviation have been merged into one, while the ministries of interior and police affairs have been fused into internal affairs; information and national orientation as well as culture and tourism are now known as information and culture.
