Buhari: I’m not plotting to destroy Tinubu… he’s a priceless asset to APC

President Muhammadu Buhari has described Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a “priceless asset” to the ruling party.

Reacting to reports of discord between him and Tinubu on many issues concerning the party, Buhari said such rumors should be disregarded.

He commended Tinubu for honouring his words by not working against the interest of the APC in the Ondo state governorship election.

“President Buhari has dismissed rumors that himself and the APC leadership are at war with the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, describing such rumors as unfounded and mischievous,” read a statement issued on Buhari’s behalf by Garba Shehu, his spokesman.

“President Buhari was highly embarrassed by such suggestions… he was in regular contact with Tinubu before, during and after the Ondo gubernatorial election.

“Any suggestions that the president and the party machinery were working to destroy Tinubu have no foundation in truth or any credibility… the president was impressed by Tinubu’s assurance not to work against the party in Ondo and he honoured his words.

“President Buhari regards Tinubu as a priceless political asset to the party whose immeasurable contributions to the development and progress of the ruling party are known to all. Rumor mongers should stop spreading the seeds of discord and animosity between the president and Tinubu or the party.

“The president is proud of Jagaban and his pivotal role in the party and the movement. President Buhari commended Tinubu’s spirit of comradeship in promptly congratulating Rotimi Akeredolu who was elected governor. The president also noted that at a time his administration is preoccupied with governance issues, rumours of divisions and alleged scheming within the party are counterproductive to internal unity and cohesion in APC.”

  1. Asiwaju Tinubu should thread with caution expecially when it comes to APC matters! Tinubu has goofed three times against APC. His first mistake was in Kogi where his handpicked Faleke refused to remain as deputy but rather attempted to claim to the APC governor’s seat, by even going to court againt the party! Tinubu’s second goof was to have publicly asked the party chairman, Oyegun to resign because Oyegun conducted a free, fair and transparent primary in Ondo guber that threw the now governor-elect chief Akeredolu, instead of Tinubu’s preferred Olusola Oke! Tinubu’s third goof was his refuasal together with his men to publicly join the APC campaign train of APC’s Rotimi Akeredolu while he failed to call his preferred candidate Olusola Oke to order as Okey whent to another party AD not to win, but to undercut APC’s Akeredolu victory! But God says no to Tinubu’s antics in all these acts of sabotage against the ruling APC party! Tinubu’s greed and over bearing influence are now reducing Tinubu from a leading voice to that of a minority voice before our very eyes. Tinubu’s waning political influence is self-inflicted and can be reversed onlyy by Tinubu if he’s willing to swallow his pride, take a retreat and come clean to the party because APC is national party now, not regional AD, AC where Tinubu from his Bourdillion home single handedly dtermines how south west runs, who gets what and how!
