President Muhammadu Buhari joined millions of Nigerians within and outside the country in watching the Super Eagles open their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Burundi on Saturday.
Odion Ighalo stepped off the bench to score the winner as Nigeria broke off the resilience of debutants Burundi to beat them 1-0 at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday.
The three-time African champions kick-started their search for a fourth AFCON title on a high.
In a Twitter post shortly after the Eagles pipped Burundi, Bashir Ahmad, Buhari’s personal assistant on new media showed where the president sat to watch the game.
