Buhari, Jonathan come alive at ‘Yaw live on stage’

Ace Nigerian entertainer and convener of Yaw live on stage, Yaw, and comic actor, Okey Bakassi thrilled thousands of Nigerians at the seventh edition of the show, as the duo played out President Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan.

In a satirical play titled “You: the past, the present and the future”, the entertainers drove home the message for a better Nigeria, touching topical issues such as: the missing $20 billion, the build-up of electoral campaigns, the elections and finally the concession of Jonathan during the election.

On the world scene, the entertainers mimicked the fight of the century by Manny Pacqiao and Floyd Mayweather, preaching peace via the popular bout.

The audience went ecstatic when Yaw presented television advertorials from the late 80s and the early 90s with a large number of people singing alongside the good, old adverts.

In the spirit of the golden oldies, old school musicians were brought up next to perform their “evergreen”.

Azadus performed You is the one; Jazzman Olofin thrilled the audience with Raise the roof; Mountain Black and Mad Melon dazzled with Danfo driver; African China raised the tempo with Mr President while Olu maintain capped it all with his all-time hit, Yahooze.

Leading comedian at the occasion were Basketmouth, Seyi Law, Akpororo, Laff’Up, Mc Abbey, Buchi, Funny bone, Chygurl and Lolo 1.

It was not just a night of drama, dance, comedy and old school music, but also one for reigning musical kings and queens, with the Nigerian music industry practically present.

Yaw Fight of the century

Performances came in from YBNL acts, Olamide and Lil Kesh; Mavin artistes, Di’ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello; Chocolate city rapper, MI; HKN Omo Baba Olowo, Davido and I’m taken crooner, Cynthia Morgan.

Also present at the event was Abimbola Fashola, wife of the immediate past governor of Lagos state; Richard Mofe-Damijo, timeless nollywood actor; Jay Jay Okocha, former Nigerian international; Nollywood actresses Funke Akindele and Cossy Orjiakor.
