President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the service chiefs, ministers and heads of security agencies over the security challenges confronting the country.
The meeting is being held at the council chamber of the presidential villa.
The meeting comes about a week after the national council of state met to discuss the country’s security challenges and other issues.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president, and Babagana Monguno, national security adviser (NSA), are in attendance.

The service chiefs present are Lucky Irabor, chief of defence; Faruk Yahaya, chief of army staff; Awwal Gambo, chief of air staff, and Isiaka Amao, chief of naval staff.
Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior; Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, and Bashir Magashi, minister of defence, are present at the meeting.
Also present are, Alkali Usman, inspector-general of police (IGP); Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), and Ahmed Abubakar, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

In recent times, the north-central and north-west have been experiencing a spike in banditry and kidnapping.
