Buhari receives security briefings from three govs

Kashim Shettima, governor of Borno state; Abdullahi Ganduje, his Kano counterpart; and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, briefed President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja before he left for the US.

Imam Imam, spokesman of Tambuwal, commented about the meeting on his Facebook page but did not go into details.

However, a source told TheCable that the meeting centered on national issues, including the security situation in the three states.

It is not clear when the president would return as the presidency was silent on this in the statement it released to announce his US trip.

While in the US, Buhari would join other world leaders at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Nigerian leader would participate in the general debate with the theme: ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.

He would also hold a bilateral meeting with Antonio Guterres, UN secretary-general, as well as a lunch meeting with President Donald Trump.
