President Muhammadu Buhari returned to the country from the United Kingdom late Wednesday, ending his six days vacation.
Upon his arrival after almost two weeks away, Buhari was received by top government officials.
Buhari commenced a short vacation at the end of the Supporting Syria and The Region Conference in London.
Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, had announced that Buhari had handed over to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo after informing the national assembly of his absence.

The news generated different reactions, with some persons alleging that the reason for the vacation was medical.
Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti state and renowned critic of the president, had described the vacation as “suspicious”.
“It is suspicious that a president who told Nigerians that he was embarking on official visit to France and Britain, last Tuesday, would suddenly commence a five-day vacation while still in the United Kingdom. Where and why? We were not told. Nigerians deserve to know where exactly their president is spending his vacation,” he had said.

But Adesina dismissed such reports, saying the president only needed rest having worked “non-stop” for eight months.
“Any man can fall sick, old or young, but the president is not sick, the president is well. The president has worked for more than eight months non-stop, and he felt it was time to take a respite and he asked for six days leave and he did it the proper way. He communicated it to the national assembly, handed over power to his deputy and nothing is wrong with that,” he told Channels Television in an interview.
