Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is tired of the noise about his secondary school certificate and wants anyone seeking his disqualification on that basis to go to court – and remain there.
Buhari made the statement while reacting to a suit filed against him in court seeking his disqualification for not possessing the minimum requirement to contest for president.
In suit number FHC/ABJ/01/2015, Chike Okafor, an Abuja-based lawyer, asked a federal high court sitting in Abuja to disqualify Buhari for presenting false information in an affidavit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Okafor hinged his suit on Section 31(5) of the Electoral Act, which permits a citizen to go to court to challenge the candidature of an individual for false claims, documents or affidavits.

“I ran for office before… This is the fourth time,” Buhari said.
“INEC, by law, got those documents. The say they got them. Any person who has any doubt should go to court; they are now in court, so let them remain there.”
Buhari, who was speaking at the presentation of a resolution endorsing him as the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), remarked that the 2015 election would mark a watershed in the country’s political history.

He thanked the PDM delegation led by Bashir Yusuf, its national chairman, saying the support of the party was a major achievement.
Yusuf stated that Buhari received the endorsement of PDM because of his achievements as a military ruler and chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
The PDM, which was registered in August 2013, has about six million members.
