Buhari seeks confirmation of Shonubi as CBN deputy governor

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the senate to confirm Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as a deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.

The president based his request on section 81(2) of the CBN Act.

“Dear distinguished senate president, in accordance to the provisions of section 81 (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) establishment Act 2007, I have the pleasure to present Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi for confirmation as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the letter read.
