Buhari to sue NTA, AIT for airing ‘defamatory documentary’

Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has vowed to sue the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the African Independent Television (AIT) if his demands are not met.

Buhari, who wrote a letter to director-general (DG) of NTA, Shola Omole, through the APC legal director, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), said a recent documentary by Africa’s first television outfit is fabricated and defamatory.

“I refer to your curious, unguarded, mischievous, fabricated, defamatory and hate documentary broadcast against All Progressives Congress and particularly its presidential candidate, His Excellency, General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” Buhari wrote.

“In the hate documentary, you were goaded into carefully and intentionally turning your respected television station into a ready tool for hate groups that do not wish Nigeria well.

“Certainly, your station has, in the past, contributed a lot to Nigerian nation-building. One is therefore stunned at this ugly twist at solemn election period?”

The APC went on to say that if its demands were not met, it would “take drastic court action” against the national television.

“We demand you to do the following as a matter of urgency: (a) A letter of apology to All Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, (b) Have a meeting with All Progressive Congress National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed with view to packaging a retrieval broadcast and (c) Disclosure of the real sponsors of the hate documentary to All Progressives Congress.

“Failure on your side to comply immediately with the above demands would certainly force us to take drastic court action against you,” the party added.

In addition to this the Buhari also reached out to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), having considered it an act of human right violation.

“Campaign of hate, particularly when based on twisted facts and ill intentions, is a constructive incitement to violence. Campaign of hate is not only dehumanising; it is against the spirit of our constitution and unwholesome to national interests.

“The electorate have rights to base their evaluation of every election candidate on true facts not deceptive and cooked manipulation.

He added that the dealings of NTA and AIT contravene the conducts of the National Broadcasting Cooperation (NBC) and the NHRC, stating that the bodies investigate the documentary.

  1. To All you Anti-Apc and Anti-Buhari; I just wonder and ponder how you all think and reason. Why are many Nigerians so sentimental, tribalistic, Religionist and easily brainwashed. We are talking about our future, the future of our children and Nigeria as one and not tribe or religion. Just to remind you; General Buhari was almost killed in a Bomb blast that killed some members of his crew but you all didn’t talk because he is not your brother from the same tribe, region or religion….

Putting yourselves in the position of the APC My question to you is; Even if they(APC) were terrorists, knowing that some fingers will point to them as the main culprit, do you think that their strategies would be to bomb the president few days to election whilst preaching against violence and also trying to convince people that they are best for the job?.

Honestly there’s no sense in such strategy… For intelligent people I think the answer is NO… What I think and what I know from my study so far is that, it makes more sense that Jonathan, his crew, his sponsors and co-plotters are using all possible means, money and power as incumbent to scam Nigerians through our weak points (as sentimental and pitiful people etc).

They masterminded this act to gain the pity and sympathy of Nigerians. They also knows that some Nigerians will Sentimentally attack the opposition for this incident and in the process divert their votes for them. This is very Similar to the bombing in Abuja Which Henry Orkah said was masterminded by Jonathan to gain pity.

For me weather the president is a female or male, Old or Young, a yoruba, hausa, igbo, ighala or niger-delta, christian, Buddhist or Muslim etc.. all we should be after is a better governance or a better Nigeria whereby citizens are always priority (The Nigerian Dream). This present government and administration has not been able to give us or shown signs of it in the last sixteen(16) years as PDP and six(6) years as Jonathan.

With their self interests as priority they have failed to do anything for Nigerians not to talk of their own people and region. This Is why I think we should have a change in hand and governance totally different from the PDP and Jonathan.

Without sentiment, even if you share the same tribe ethnicity, religion or region with the president you should be able to criticise him/her for not fulfilling their promises. this was evident during the rule of General Obasanjo with the yoruba’s being the first to criticised him for his rule and third term plans even though he is a yoruba man the same goes to Hausa’s who criticised some of their leader too e.g. Shagari, Abacha etc…

Please Don’t be brainwashed by all these propagandas and those behind them for they are liars who thirst to retain power and amass wealth from Nigerians by all means. BE WISE!

  2. AIT/GEJ Lied To Nigerians.

They are taking Advantage of the Youths that were to young to know/understand the things that happened in Buhari’s Era and Those that weren’t Born in that Era, trying to mislead them and cause confusion. Because we don’t form the habit of reading and researching on our own and mainly because we are sentimental and pitiful people.

They didn’t tell us in their poorly Edited documentary how Buhari’s government insisted that we should stop borrowing money from IMF to do projects like the metro line and other projects because it will destroy our Economy and leading us to keep servicing Interests making our economy not be able to recover. which led him to successfully raised funds to clear up all Nigeria’s Debt and Interests at once but IMF refused to collect the payments insisting that Nigeria should not clear it all but rather go by the agreement to pay monthly Interests. Buhari refused and Nigeria was ban and also Seized to be recognised by the International and World trade Organisation which led Buhari to venture into trade by batter deals with countries that were interested in our Crude oil to make our country and economy survive. Despite all attempts to frustrate Nigeria by the International trade community and IMF, Buhari’s Government successfully reduced inflation from about 23% to 4% and Naira was then Strong as the Dollar.

They didn’t tell us how Gen. Buhari himself lined up in fuelling stations to buy petrol. so as to encourage discipline despite being the head of state.

They didn’t tell us how He birthed and supervised the establishment of our existing refineries in warri etc. and there was no importation of fuel during his reign..

They didn’t tell us how Gen. Buhari Returned all his Government official cars and refused to collect compensation while managing PTF under Gen. Obasanjo. Is it possible for a man to steal 33 trillion and not have a fuelling station, Lands, Houses, Properties abroad and even a refinery to him self etc.? He always looked at himself as a Common man. These are just a few they failed to mention.

    The documentary was worked upon to deceive The youths;

    1. Fela NEVER mentioned Buhari in $N2.8B scandal. He mentioned OBJ. AIT edited that part off.

    2. Buhari did not expel Ghanian’s from Nigeria. Shagari of the NPN did. AIT made a FALSE Assertion.

    3. Gloria Okon did not disappear under Buhari it was under IBB and Dele Giwa was murdered for it.

    4. GEJ went so low to bring Buhari’s daughters into politics. Can one use Dame’s inability to bear a child as a campaign issue?

    5. Fela’s mother the GREAT Funmilayo Kuti died after OBJ Kalakuta in 1978 Buhari came into power in 1984.

    6. All Politicians that were sentenced to prison by the
1984 Military Tribunal were found to either enrich themselves with public funds or diverted public funds. Non were convicted by fiat.

    7. GEJ and AIT went after Buhari’s late wife and daughter. How low and desperate can Jonathan get? Buhari was detained By IBB and was never allowed to see his late wife and sick daughter even after she died.

    8. AIT/GEJ alleged that Buhari has been losing since 1999. This is a lie. Buhari’s first shot was in 2003. In 1999 Chief Olu Falae of ANPP/AD contested against Obj.

    9. AIT/NTA & GEJ criticized Buhari for Heading PTF Board. Whereas, PTF is till date the most successful parastatal ever in Nigeria. Through PTF, the Amazon Dora Akunyili was known.

    10. There was No religious Crisis during Buhari’s time.

Don’t believe these Propaganda’s. BE WISE!
