President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the residents of Osun to give their support to the government of Ademola Adeleke, the state governor.
According to a statement by Femi Adesina, Buhari’s media and publicity special adviser, the president said the final decision of the supreme court on the disputed July 16, 2022, governorship poll was another show of the judiciary’s effort in “deepening rule of law and democracy”.
TheCable had reported how a five-member panel of the supreme court held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor.
The president asked politicians in the state and their supporters to “make the people feel the impact of good governance, where a prosperous, peaceful and stable Osun is guaranteed” as their main task after the court tussle.

“Elections should be seen as the path to an end, which is the progress of the people in a peaceful environment, rather than unending bickering. This is the time for inclusion and harmony in the state at the end of litigation,” the president was quoted as saying.
The president also thanked the people of Osun for “contributing immensely to the development of the nation, particularly through the state’s rich cultural heritage, the several historic sites and tourist attractions, including the Osun-Osogbo sacred grove, which is a UNESCO world heritage site”.
