Buhari: Uyo church building collapse is a tragedy that affects us all

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the families of victims of the building collapse that occurred at the Reigners Bible Church International, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, on Saturday.

The tragedy is believed to have resulted in the death of more than 200 — possibly more than 300 — people.

“This evening I spoke with Gov @MrUdomEmmanuel to commiserate with him on the tragic collapse of the Reigners Bible Church building in Uyo,” Buhari said via his Twitter handle.

“Any tragedy that affects any part of Nigeria affects all of us. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Akwa Ibom.

“I pray that the souls of the deceased will rest in peace, and that the injured will experience quick recovery. I asked the Governor to convey to the people of Akwa Ibom the deep sorrow felt by me, and by the entire country, over this tragedy.”

In addition to the hundreds of death being given, dozens of others are injured and currently hospitalised.

The state government has already revealed its intention to constitute a high-powered panel of enquiry to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the incident.

  1. Emmanuel Udom was the target, he just reshuffled his cabinet (commissioners) just last week. Akpabio, his boys and the deputy governor should be the prime suspect.
