Aishat Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appealed to Nigerian women to vote for her husband on Saturday, assuring them that he would protect them.
Opponents of Muhammdau Buhari have been accusing him of having a bias against women. But speaking on Tuesday during the campaign rally of the APC in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun state, Mrs. Buhari said her husband would ensure that the ministry of women affairs implements its mandate of taking care of women.
“I am glad to be here again because it was here that I was officially unveiled by my husband some two months ago,” she said.
“As I stand before you today, my heart goes to my sisters, mothers, grandmothers in the northeast who, due to the level of insecurity, cannot assemble like us and get sensitised about the forthcoming election.

“I pray for peace in the northeast. I am from the northeast and I know what it is to be taken away into captivity while your husbands are slaughtered.
“As you are aware, each region of this country has its own peculiar problem. My husband was in Lagos some days back and he held a town hall meeting with them and emphasised that domestic violence or violence of any kind affecting women would not be accepted under his administration.
“I am standing before you today just like taking an oath to assure you that when you vote for General Muhammadu Buhari, know that he would protect women. His administration would have zero tolerance for violence against women. He would protect women and children.”

She appealed to Nigerians not to compromise on the day of election, saying Buhari’s integrity would not make him consider doing anything unethical all in the bid to win.
“Before the primary election in Lagos, my husband assured Nigerians that he has no money to bribe them and even if he has he, he can’t do that because Nigerians are not for sale,” she said.
“He believes in integrity, honesty and accountabilityWomen are the major voters, once we get educated on how to vote, consider the election won.”
