#BuhariMustGo: Activists protest at Dunamis Church over members’ arrest

Some activists, on Sunday, protested at the Masaka branch of Dunamis Church in Abuja, to demand the release of five persons recently arrested near the church.

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) had arrested five persons at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja, on July 4, for allegedly wearing #BuhariMustGo branded shirts.

Speaking on Sunday, the protesters said they would not leave the premises until they get explanations on the whereabouts of the arrested persons.

Agena Ande, leader of the group, said the arrest was illegal.

“I am a Dunamite, a certified one, but I say no to injustice. These are congregants and they were arrested and detained by DSS illegally, and we are saying they should be released. Our father in the Lord should order the release of these five youths,” Ande said.

“They went to Glory Dome to worship just like every other congregant, but they were beaten up and arrested and till today, we don’t know their location.

“We don’t have any information about them. They even denied their lawyers access to them.

“So, we are here to tell Dr. Paul Enenche to release these people. We are all Nigerians and there should be justice in the church. Every religious leader preaches justice and peace and that is why we are here.”

Omoyele Sowore, leader of the #RevolutionNow movement; Deji Adeyanju, human rights activist, and Abubakar Marshal, a lawyer, had earlier met with the church to demand the release of the arrested persons.

Meanwhile, the church has maintained that it did not order the arrest.
