Buhari is brain-dead, says Patience Jonathan

Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s first lady, has appealed to Nigerian women to vote en masse for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the forthcoming presidential election because the brain of Muhammadu Buhari, the party’s opponent, is dead.

Speaking on Tuesday during the PDP women presidential campaign rally in Kogi state, she described Buhari as unfit to be the country’s president.

Wetin him dey find again? Him dey drag with him pikin mate,” she said in pidgin English.

Old man wey no get brain, him brain don die pata pata.”

Moved by the cheers of the crowd, the first lady sporadically sang to taunt her husband’s main challenger at this month’s presidential election.

If you vote Buhari, na your prison; if you vote APC, na your wahala,” she sang.

“What is change? Why did you not change things when you were there? Is it now that you want to be doing the things you weren’t doing before?

“Jonathan looked at us and said women, I am giving you the position of the chief justice of this country. Okonjo-Iweala is a woman, Diezani is a woman. Seventy percent of his cabinet are women.

“He also gave us the opportunity to start enrolling for the regular combatant course at the NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy).

“He wants continuity because he has vowed to do more.  He places Nigerians in his mind and if he says he will do this, he will do it. So what are we looking for? If we women of Nigeria don’t appreciate Goodluck and we are looking for bus conductor, it is left for us.”

She urged the people to obtain their permanent voter cards (PVCs) in order to participate in the election and also said her visit was meant to appreciate them.

“Remember that your vote is your power and it is good to vote wisely,” she said.

“Those of you that do not have PVC should endeavour to collect it because all these things you are doing is meaningless without PVC.

“I thank you very much the people of Kogi. This time around I came to thank you very well. I brought some gift for you, I brought rice, I brought meat, I brought brocade. I brought many things for you. It is not for election but to thank you very well.”

Idris Wada, governor of the state; Helen Mark, wife of the senate president; Kema Chikwe, national woman leader of PDP, were among those in attendance.

  1. The First Lady is now let loose, saying all sorts, celebrating her ignorance. Chai! I saw her shameful drama on NTA and told myself we must save Nigeria from this continuing embarrassment. Jonathan and his wife represent everything that ridicules decency. Unfortunately, the world would think this is who we are as Nigerians. What has Jonathan done and what will he do if re-elected? These questions are too complex for Jonathan and his wife, Patience who knows everyone that is “brain dead”. This woman is saying Jonathan will not re-contest in 2019. So funny! We won’t even wait till 2019 to kick out the useless government. Never again, never again, never! never !! never!!!!!!

    1. This SAKA should stop embarrassing PDP & GEJ … The more she campaigns , the more GEJ looses voters!…..NIGERIANS LOVE GMB

    2. my dear, I think you are be unfair to yourself and this country to say that president jonathan has not done anything in over seven years. Are you saying the nation has been on a stand still since he took over?
      I understand that you are entitled to ur opinion but we should not throw away the bathe water with the baby
      jonathan and the wife may have their weaknesses and excesses but those are what make us humans and is not enough to disparage him in such harsh tone. I guess in trying to fault madam jonathan’s posture u too have also descend to the same uncouth level as her. we all should watch it, the election would soon come and go and we will all live with our choices and our words

      1. When her husband was (& still) being called all sorts of names, it makes beautiful headlines & most of us if not all of us applauded (& still applauding)
        The seeds of hate will germinate & ‘flourish’ our land.

    3. GET THIS INTO YOUR HEAD GOD HAS MADE JONATHAN AND HIS WIFE PRESIDENT TODAY. ITS AN INSULT TO COMPARE BUHARI TO EITHER OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE ARTICULATE AND COHERENT THAN BUHARI. SHE DREW AN APPLAUSE FROM THE CROWD. HAS BUHARI ADDRESSED ANY CAMPAIGN CROWD FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES?

      1. My dear, your have no idea of what decency and womanhood mean. When you glorify waywardness, you put yourself out as uncultured too. Learn to be morally objective and clear minded to condemn bad behaviour on both sides. May God help us to retain our sanity.

    4. Sorry, my friend, this woman is not an embarrassment. Even Governor Fashola and Mr Ambode danced and chanted hooligananic songs at APC campaigns in Lagos. It is politics and there is nothing indecent about her singing funny songs or dancing to connect with her audience at rallies. Learn not to be biased but be fair to all. There is no derogatory term APC has not used for the president. He allowed it. Buhari is not greater than our current president.

  2. This Woman is a big DISGRACE to womanhood. What you wish some other persons husband will surely be your lot

  3. As for me and my supporters numbering over one Million with a multiplier effect of over ten million pan Nigeria, GMB is not brain dead. We assure GMB and his party that our total support with our votes are for him.
    At this point in time, we need a strong personality like GMB to put Nigeria back to track.
    * Stop Corruption
    * put Refineries back to work
    * Build more Refineries
    * Improve Power supply
    * Guarantee Security of lives and property
    * Good infrastructure
    * Improved health delivery system
    * Restore education to its quality values
    * etc etc.
    GMB, no wahala!!! We dey with you

    1. Thank you gor such a straight to the point meaningful contribution. Political campaigns should stop degenerating to abuse of persons. I am in support of PDP, but strongly condemn Mrs. Jonathan’s attack on Buhari. It was distasteful and disrespectful. Respect begets respect.

    2. GMB all the way. Pot calling kettle black. I reserve my comment till after elections when I can laugh at the real brain dead people cause Buhari would surely win in Jesus name. Amen

      1. Pls watch it. Don’t mention the name of the Lord in vain. She said wrong but between an incoherent wife of the president and an incoherent president which one would you rather choose?

  4. If mommy “peace” can say buhari’s brain is dead and he speaks and reads better than she will ever do in her lifetime then I can equally say her brain is decayed and purified (she will need a dictionary and an interpreter for these words)

      1. During his speech at Chatham House, Mallam Buhari called empty ’emputy’. He called INEC Independent Nigerian Electoral Commission. He called his own party All Progressive People Confidence. And called his running mate Professor Osinbade.

        How else will you describe such aman if notbrain dead?

        1. Nelly. Even a stack illiterate who cannot read or write at all but can reason, cannot be referred to as ‘brain dead’. You guys are brandishing so much ignorance and indecency. it’s not funny

    1. You should not judge Patience Jonathan wrongly if she can communicate in pidgin. This is the language of Nigerians. Just the same way you cannot judge or laugh at the Queen of England or HIlary Clinton or Michelle Obama for not speaking pidgin, hausa or tiv correctly. It is a free world to communicate the best way that u can when you know your audience.

      Do not forget she was speaking to women who maynot understand queen’s english

      1. The issue is not how the words were said but what was said. No matter how Bad individual is he should be accorded some level of respect especially having led in the capacity of the head of star previously. I don’t support abuses on either ways

  5. We agree GMB’s brain is dead but have you find out the status of a so called Phd holder’s brain? Which becomes decayed nd rosted wthout nothing left but producing d highest graduate of corruption in our dearest country

  6. The woman is more than a disgrace to Nigeria. see the way she has been causing trouble by her ungodly, unguided utterances that anybody calling for change should be stoned. Is that the type of leader we wantto deal with for another 4 yesrs? so shameful .

  7. Fakalebe you keep on breaking records,”brain dead” hmmm I wonder if urs is “brain damage”.if truly u think una do good,why not pass it on? Abi wettin una wan do,if re-elected that una never do? Chai chai daris god oooh.we shall see……

  8. Wonders shall never end. Mama p with her useless grammar. Ds had made all our students in public schools to speak nonsense grammar. When the head is rotten, what would u expect from the body. This useless set of leaders are not suppose to lead for a day not to mention 6yrs. We need Buhari to lead us and that is the voice of Baba God.

  9. A Black pot is referring stainless ketltle as black, what a pity. This is ironical. Least I forget’ chai!

  10. In the history of GMB no corruption in his record ,his past was crying for him,please GMB is the best for this country now.I respect his courage. Victory Indeed!

  11. This lady idepicts the decadence that permeates every nook and cranny of the society in Nigeria. Her utterances are unbecoming of a First Lady.
    Disgrceful

  12. Now I can see that one who lives in a fools paradise will not only use his tongue to pick the fallen peanut on the ground, he will equally attempt to use it in determining the taste of his feaces.

    Obviosly, our firstlady was on the wrong page to have at this point in time begin the sharing of ‘rice, meat and brocade’ for women in the name of “appreciation”.
    First, will our mothers sell their votes for these items of temporal and minim value?
    Second, who needs these items most? The wives of well employed men, chiefs, rulers, etc, or the IDPs who have lost all that they held on to as life? If so great is her passion and willingess to ‘appreciate’ then there is a question of priority. One thing is certain as well, are the orphanages well fed and clothed as we speak? I think that would have been more laudable.

    On another note, if GMB’s ‘brain-dead’ then does it mean Nigerians will continue with the most ebarassing first lady the country has ever had in that wise?
    I have better things doing with my time. Madam Patience is nothing but a ranter in our corridor of serenity.
    Would we give her our ears?

    God will forbid that.

  13. It is quite unfortunate that Mr president choose to be hobnobing with a woman full of shame like dis, who knows nothing but disgrace upon herself. Why can’t her just save her breath from dis inglorious character! Well is jonathan himself in anyway better? A PHD holder that is not in anyway better than an SSCE holder. Patience is just a persona-non-granta!

  14. yes, Buhari is too fanatical and his mission is to serv his masters from saudi arabia. Bliv me if buhari wins, evry body must be in tears. Buhari is half litrate and can ignore constitutional signals.

  15. Madam Fist Lady is looking for dead brain outside while she has one in her home. How does she think her husband earned the title ‘clueless’?
    Otueke-bound lot.

  16. Patience is an embarr******* to her husband, PDP and Nigeria. I’m ashamed of myself as a Nigerian to have this uncouth woman as the first lady. For how long will she continue to disgrace everybody? This uncontrolled ranting will make Jonathan lose more supporters.

  17. Oh! What a shame! A reasonable and virtous woman will never dim it fit to disrespect another woman’s husband. PEJ, you are also a leader but a very ‘bad’ leader who have shown not only Nigerian but the whole world @large that your upbring was corrupted with bad intents. Well, either Buhari’s brain dead or not, I can assure you that 70% of Nigerian are voting for him. Get this to your brain Aunty Patient, shame is driving closer to you… Watch out!

  18. This is horrible, sickening and a disgrace coming from a whole First Lady. Imagine that this is our president’s chief adviser that advises him in the bedroom!

  19. pej is a big shame to dis country. if she says gmb brain is dead. i think her brain too is decayed and of no value to anyone.

  20. It’s worrisome dat some people still blindly support what d woman said. I’m afraid only God will make us get things right in this country with these set of youths. We need prayers

  21. Its funny seeing a myopic, stark illiterate talking about another woman’s husband brain deadness. But the truth is the brain-death of Buhari is by far better than the brains of a clueless Ph.D President.

  22. How can Patience abuse GMB? I can imagine that GEJ has continually allow his wife to display their inefficiency and inadequacies in the public areana. We are more civilized to allow an inconsequential illiterate like patience abuse a personality like buhari. The inability for the GEJ to call his wife to order is the reason he is loosing the election. We want men as president not a weakling. How many times has anyone hear Buhari wife insult any personality? But for the fact that there is no reason for such. We cannot allow our nation to be lead by hooligans. Patience needs to go back to where she belongs.

  23. I think APC and GMB supporters should just ignore the woman. I was so embarrassed yesterday watching the woman live on NTA. If I am GEJ, I will just send the woman to Obodo Oyibo for break till after elections, cos she’s doing more damages to the person of Jonathan. What am I saying sef, I forgot she’s the ‘man of the house’. There’s God ooh… all this insult you’re insulting….

  24. Wetin be your own for this thread? People are entitled to their own opinion; it seems you are not aware of this. Act your age and try to show some maturity…and don’t bother to respond to me because I won’t read anymore posts on this embarrassing story of our close minded first lady.

  25. Buhari is the most misunderstood Nigerian of his generation since his whirlwind 20-month rule. Much of the misunderstanding is a product of the fear of the man they refuse to understand. He has been tarred and feathered as an alleged religious fanatic whose alleged objective in seeking power is to Islamise Nigeria. Yet, his detractors find it convenient not to remember that in his quest for the presidency, Buhari has not carried his campaigns to mosques or Muslim groups anywhere in the country. Religion has never featured in his campaigns. Political leadership is not about the god you worship. It is about serving that god by serving the people.
    On the other hand, unlike Buhari, President Goodluck Jonathan is busy mining religion for his political benefits. It is no secret that he hops from one obscure church to another, seeking assurance from pastors that he is the man chosen by God. Twice, he took state governors, ministers and pastors to pray at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. I have heard no one accuse him of Christianising Nigeria.
    The trouble for Buhari’s detractors is that despite their poor attempts to tarnish his integrity, they are unable to reasonably question his solid credentials: his incorruptibility and his belief in and commitment to discipline and the rule of law. Not all of us are comfortable with a strong leader. Many of us prefer a weak and jolly leader who holds the cow for the smart ones to milk. When US President Obama advised that Africa needed strong institutions, not strong leaders Buhari’s quite sensible response was that you need strong leaders to build strong institutions on the continent. Just see how many of our national institutions are mothballed through a poor appreciation of the fact that nations are built and they progress on the strong pillars of their institutions.
    The governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, was once quoted as saying, “the fear of Buhari is the beginning of wisdom.” Perhaps, that is the problem. (To be concluded).
    He did not enter the race waving the banner of populism. He did so, waving his flag as a serious-minded politician. He has offered nothing but his credentials as an incorruptible and competent leader with the sole objective of fixing his badly broken country.
    Normally, his sales pitch would be a no-no because we have been conditioned to expect and even demand largesse from politicians during electioneering campaigns, the only time they reach out to the people. It is no secret that there is lack of mutual trust between the people and the politicians. It is quid pro quo: Give us money, get our votes. And because Buhari, being of a spare flesh, cannot shake body, his campaign promises would be treated as airy nothings – full of sound but not the welcome sound the Naira makes in the pocket.
    Buhari has stood that conventional wisdom on its head – I hope for good and the good of our country. The poor flock to him in a way we have not seen since perhaps the First Republic when Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the champion of the talakwa, Malam Aminu Kano, championed their cause. The poor know he has no money and did not come into the race with a war chest bulging with dollars, pounds and Naira. So, instead of asking him for money, they chip in the little they have for his campaigns. As witness the 80-year old woman in Niger State who gave him her life’s saving of one million Naira. As witness schoolboys and hundreds of the struggling poor who chipped in their proverbial widow’s mite.

    A politician funded by the people? What is even more interesting is that hundreds of the young men and women who work in the Buhari Campaign at national and state levels, are volunteers. They work for free because they believe, I suspect, that the lack of money should not debar him from his noble national pursuit. It does have the grating sound of aberration.
    Buhari does not rent crowds at his campaign rallies. The people flock there at their own expense. It must be a big surprise that the common people see in him the genuine and honest leader they crave for. I keep hearing something like these: I trust him because he is honest. He had the chance to feather his own nest but he did not. He is the only politician who is genuinely offended by the brazen theft of our common wealth. I believe he is the only one who has what it takes to stop the rot and rescue our nation. We are drowning.
    However you look at it, Buhari is leading an authentic political movement of the common people for the common people. His transformation is telling evidence that victimhood could be the road to heroism. Luck, therefore, played a major part in this. Part of his luck was that the PDP moguls made the fundamental mistake of making him the issue in its presidential campaigns. It went after Buhari in every sleazy way: questioning his qualification or even literacy; fabricating his health records and dragging the innocent members of his family into the fray. It is sordid desperate.
    While the PDP foul mouths went after him this way, the man concentrated on selling himself to the various economic and demographic groups in the country. His town hall meeting with businessmen was an important step for creating an economic programme that would take this country from this country from being a true economic giant of Africa. Buhari thus concentrates on the real issues that affect the country and its teeming
    It could still be a bubble. It would be naïve not to make due allowances for that. The March 28 presidential election may settle it. Whatever might be Buhari’s final political fate in that election, no one would take away from him some fundamental lessons of his quest for power. Our national politics, post Buhari, would not be the same again. Firstly, he has brought the common people into reckoning in our national politics, showing, as no other presidential candidate has done so far, that power truly belongs to the people. His common touch is genuine and his drive for an inclusive nation is sincere.
    Secondly, he has amply demonstrated that politics is not a do-or-die affair and the easy resort to smear campaigns and personal insults is cheap and blasé. Thirdly, he has shown that the koboless has a chance in the contest for political power now dominated by the rich. Fourthly, his drive rekindles the faith of the many in the capacity of this nation to rescue itself and heal itself of its self-inflicted wounds.

    1. Well said. Buhari has also been pilloried for jailing journalists without the context being explained. The journalists, Tunde Thompson and Irabor were not jailed for expressing an opinion but for being in possession of classified FGN documents relating to the Nigerian Foreign Policy on which they based a story written by them in the Guardian. The 2 journalists refused to co-operate with the government in naming the source of the documents which is as expected of professional journalists. There were several columnists at the time who were critical of government but were never jailed such as Stanley Macebuh, and Sam Amuka. Even in the developed country like the USA, journalists are jailed for being in possession of classified documents and disseminating stories based on the documents.

      1. @sawstonite That is PDP’s wicked attempt to brand Buhari as a dictator and violator of rule of law. Jonathan has no moral right to use rule of law as a campaign point. The Cable once wrote “How does President Jonathan weigh on the scale? Under Jonathan, over 2,000 Nigerians are killed annually without trial, according to National Human Right Commission. Amnesty International also reports the dragnet arrest of innocent people in the north-east and how these people were slaughtered based on suspicion that they were Boko Haram members. Have we also forgotten in a hurry the innocent young men that were mowed down by police bullets during the subsidy removal protests and how this government repressed legitimate civil protest with excessive force? Talking about freedom of the press: did this administration not propose a bill to punish social media critics by imprisonment for 7 years? Didn’t this government arrest and detain some of his social media critics in the backlash of his government’s Immigration recruitment scam? Didn’t Joseph Mbu arrest and detain journalists in Rivers state for describing him as “controversial”? How was he sanctioned for doing this – by promotion to the cadre of Assistant Inspector General? On obedience to court judgment, was this also not the same president who disobeyed the court judgment ordering reinstatement of suspended President, Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Ayo Salami? Has the government also obeyed the judgment of the Federal High Court regarding the unlawful arrest and detention of the former CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi? Over two years after the Aluu-Four were gruesomely killed in mob justice, what has happened to the investigation or prosecution of the perpetrators? You may also ask: why do Nigerians frequently resort to self-help? Are we in a jungle? Isn’t that a demonstration of lack of confidence in the court system? Has President Jonathan run a government according to the constitution? Was this not the same government that failed to remit over $20 billion crude oil proceeds into the federation account in violation of the constitution? An almighty Inspector-General of Police under President Jonathan also zealously usurps the power of the Court to interpret the constitution on the cessation of the tenure of the Speaker, House of Representatives. Joseph Mbu had done the same in Rivers State and also stopped a peaceful protest on the ground of failure to obtain Police Permit under the provision of the Public Order Act, which the court had declared unconstitutional and invalid. Again, is it governance according to the constitution for the president to outsource national security to a gang of notorious criminals that the people now seek protection against?

        Talk about equality and fairness under this government: petty thieves who stole N5,520 were sentenced to death by hanging while John Yusuf, the fellow that stole over N27 billion Police Pension Fund, got only a paltry fine of N750,000. What about the subsidy fraud folks? Is it a coincidence that all these people with corruption charges are all cronies of Mr. President and never get prosecuted? Are they above the law? Has our system of justice become a weak web that traps only small ants while bigger ants scale through? We have a president that prides himself in the very fact that there is no consequence for corruption under his government. His campaign promise is even that his government will not lead the sort of anti-corruption that puts people in jail for corruption. In fairness, the president’s excuse might be that he was not the judge in all the controversial cases, that he is not the chairman of the EFCC; he is not NNPC that failed to remit crude oil proceeds, he is not the IGP that shut down the National Assembly; Joseph Mbu was an overzealous officer and a man on he is own; the president is also not the hangman killing thousands of Nigerians without trial; the president is not the Senate that is passing the law to jail the president’s critics and that outsourcing the Navy to Tompolo is one of the 1.4million jobs created annually by this government for restive youths. If we excuse democratic President Jonathan from responsibility for the excesses of his government, I wonder what would be the case against Buhari’s military regime. So what standards do we use to stereotype one as a dictator and the other as a saint? It is a precarious signal for the future of our country that this particular president would thump its chest on rule of law. What rule of law violation could be more reprehensible than the scale of impunity shown by this government? Did the great Gani Fawehinmi, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Beko Kuti and Tai Solarin see a worst form of injustice when they stirred public outrage against the government? Luckily for President Goodluck, times have changed and people have changed too. We have morphed thicker skins for suffering in silence. This graveyard silence, the diminished appetite to speak against injustice and government excesses, makes the President look good- not any track record of respect for rule of law.”

    2. Hold your peace bro! Save the lecture till after elections. Na people like you dey find who to decieve. We know who buhari is and what he represents. We no need teacher. The only thing that hurts is that buhari will never rule this country again. I would have loved to see what you would be writing when the mask is removed and the scales in your eyes fall off.

  26. If Buhari’s wife had called GEJ a ‘dead brain’, security agents would have swooped on her like they never did Boko Haram.

    1. If that were true people like you would have been picked up already. How many people has the man harassed for calling him names? Let’s be fair even objective in politics. But am not surprised. Even if buhari were to win, I see all you singing his praise shouting crucify him 6months later. No be today my people. Dis na niger!

  27. Yes GMB’s brain is dead bcos he will not allow our oil revenues the missing like the way her husband is doing.Also he will not say stealing is not corruption as said by her Husband. Equally, even you said GMB did not go to school his English is better than yours and your husband.

  28. Any body that has the fear God will never insurt an elder ,and we should no one thing that a if somebody didn’t offend u and u are insulting him or her , u are making that person to be more populler and more great

  29. Well, i choose to vote for buhari but i must admit and appreciate your objective view point. Good read. Thank you.

  30. This is more than a comment,its an article of its own that should be published. The cabals don’t GEJ 2 handover power, 6wks is now 4wks….Nice one Bro I wish u r one of my Facebook n Twitter pals

  31. When will someone tell our ‘First Lady’ that Nigerians no longer take her comments serious, rather they see her as a comedian more so as she dresses like Moladun Kenkelewu, the late top Yoruba artist. Her comments are repulsive and she may be solidly behind her husband’s failure as she was behind his earlier success.
