Buhari’s former photographer Sunday Aghaeze loses wife

Mabel, wife of Sunday Aghaeze, an ex-personal assistant on photography to former President Muhammadu Buhari, is dead.

She died on March 4, a few weeks before her 50th birthday.

Aghaeze broke the news of his wife’s demise in a social media post when he wrote “One Week now Darkness Envelopes Me!!! WITH THE KIDS MISSING YOU!!!!.

“Darkness and Tears filled my Light!!!*Mabel Aghaeze: An awesome lady to say the least…”Aghaeze wrote also on Friday.

The cause of the death was not immediately known. She was buried in Abuja on Friday.

Before her death, the late Mabel was an assistant director of finance and accounts at the National Assembly Service Commission.

In a condolence message on Saturday, Buhari said the family of Aghaeze had “lost a pillar of support, a peaceful and loving mother”.

The former president’s condolence message was contained in a statement released by Garba Shehu, his spokesperson.

Buhari urged Aghaeze and his children to “take solace in the good name and solid reputation” left behind by the late Mabel.

In 2016, Aghaeze was first appointed by Buhari as his personal assistant on photography and was reappointed in 2019.
