Buhari’s medical trip forces Osinbajo to cut short Davos trip

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has cut short his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, by a day, as a result of the medical vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari to the UK.

Osinbajo led Nigeria’s delegation to the forum, and was supposed to return to the country on Friday. But he will now arrive a day earlier.

Buhari left the country on Thursday, and is expected to undergo a medical checkup.

He had transmitted a letter to the senate, seeking a 10-day leave.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, had said everything was in place to ensure that Osinbajo holds the fort until the president’s return.

This is the third time that Buhari will be seeking medical attention in the UK in less than two years in office.

The presidency has consistently dismissed reports that Buhari is medically unfit to lead the country.
