A bullion van driver and a police officer on Wednesday lost their lives in a road accident in Jos, Plateau state capital.
According to NAN, the two people died after the van collided with a truck loaded with soft drinks.
The accident reportedly occurred along the Polo-Gada Biyu route, around 5:30pm.
The accident was said to have caused a traffic gridlock. Fear-stricken motorists and pedestrians scampered to safety with the arrival of fierce-looking security officers to guard the van.

Andrew Bala, public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the death of the two people, saying that three injured persons were taken to the hospital for treatment.
“FRSC personnel are already at the scene to clear the road and ease traffic flow,” Bala said.
Terns Tyopev, public relations officer of the Plateau police command, said he was still gathering information on the accident.

“I cannot tell you much about the casualties because were are still gathering information,” Tyopev said.
