The 28th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Burkina Faso, scheduled for October 28 to November 2 has been cancelled, as part of efforts stop the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) still ravaging the West African countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
This is the first time in 28 years that the yearly event has been interrupted.
Burkina Faso’s Communications Minister Alain Edouard Traoré said it was better to be prudent in organising such events because of the EVD epidemic in the region.
“This is the reason why we have decided to defer a number of activities, including the International Cycling Tour,” he said.
