The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have confirmed that Morocco will take part in the qualifying round of the 2017 Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had on Thursday overturned CAF’s ban on Morocco from the 2017 and 2019 events after the North African country, who were meant to host the 2015 AFCON, asked for it to be postponed over fears of the outbreak of Ebola.
Equatorial Guinea took up the task to host the continent – only two months before it began – and Morocco were excluded and also suspended from the next two editions of the AFCON.
There were concerns about how CAF will react to CAS’ judgment especially after the soccer body’s director of communications Junior Binyam couldn’t categorically say how the matter will pan out.

But CAF on Sunday announced they had accepted the ruling by CAS following a meeting of the body’s executive committee.
“CAF, which joined the authority of the jurisdiction of the CAS, has committed to implementing the decisions and will comply with this ruling despite the contradictions observed in the CAS decision,” according to a statement on CAF website.
The draw for the qualification stage of the 2017 AFCON will take place on April 8.
