CAF CC: Enyimba crash out after defeat to Zamalek

Enyimba FC are out of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.

The team lost 3-1 to Zamalek of Egypt in their final group game at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

The loss was Enyimba’s third in six games as the Peoples Elephant finished third with five points out of a possible 18.

The Stanley Eguma side put themselves in a problematic spot following their 1-1 draw at home against Al Masry in their previous match.

Against Zamalek, Enyimba looked worse despite the Egyptian club resting a handful of players.

Mostafa Shalaby gave the home side the lead in the 29th minute before Sefeiddine Jaziri doubled the advantage early in the second half.

Then Ifeanyi Ihemekwele pulled one back for Enyimba with his fourth goal of the competition in the 57th minute.

Jaziri restored the two-goal cushion for Zamalek in the 87th minute.

The Aba-based team was the last Nigerian club to remain on the continent this season.

Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars and El Kanemi Warriors all crashed out in the earlier stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
