CAF CC: Enyimba drop to third after 0-2 loss to Williamsville

Williamsville secured a 2-0 win over Enyimba in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

Goals from Jean-Willy N’da Kouassi and Guy Yameogo secured the victory for the hosts, taking them to the top of the Group C.

Enyimba slipped to third with just two rounds of matches remaining.

The match started at a furious pace, and the People’s Elephants created the better chances in the first half; three times they broke the Williamsville offside trap but they were unable to capitalise on the opportunities.

Stephen Chukwude had two of the chances but he failed to deliver.

Minutes past the half-hour mark, Williamsville broke the deadlock as Kouassi took advantage of poor positioning from Fatau Dauda to score with a right-footed finish.

With 14 minutes left on the clock, the Ivorians doubled their lead.

Kouassi was again the architect, providing a looping cross, and Yameogo smashed home an unstoppable header.

Enyimba will next face Djoliba on August 19.
