CAF CL: Rivers United grab away win as Akwa pip Algeria’s Belouizdad

Akwa United, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, have secured a 1-0 win against CR Belouizdad of Algeria in the first leg of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League preliminary round.

Friday Ubong netted the only goal a few minutes towards the end of the game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.

The Promise Keepers, who were dominant from the blast of the whistle, however, scuttled a lot of scoring chances to have buried the game.

The Kennedy Boboye’s boys will now head to Algeria next Sunday for the second leg with a three points advantage over their opponents.
