CAF imposes $5,000 fine on Nigeria

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a fine of $5,000 on Nigeria over the lack of crowd control at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, during the AFCON qualifier between the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Over 40,000 fans crammed into the 16,000 capacity stadium to watch the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The regulatory body also fined Egypt the same amount for the “excessive usage of lasers” by fans during the return leg in Alexandria.

Egypt defeated Nigeria in the second leg, making Nigeria to fail in securing a ticket for the 2017 AFCON taking place in Gabon.
