CAF rename continental competitions

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have renamed six of their continental competitions.

The body’s executive committee decided to name all competitions involving national teams as Africa Cup of Nations, distinguishing them just by their particularity – gender or age group – with the exception of the African Nations Championship.

Thus, the official names of CAF competitions are: the Africa Women Cup of Nations (formerly African Women’s Championship); Africa U-23 Cup of Nations (formerly African U-23 Championship); Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (formerly African Youth Championship).

Others are Africa U-17 Cup of Nations (formerly African U-17 Championship); Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations (formerly African Beach Soccer Championship) and Africa Futsal Cup of Nations (formerly African Futsal Championship).
