Cameroon has stepped up action against Boko Haram militants operating inside its border with Nigeria, killing no fewer than 40 of them on Sunday, Reuters reports.
The news agency quoted a presidency source as confirming that there were clashes in the country’s far northern town of Kousseri, which is located in border region.
The group had just released a Canadian nun and two Italian priests in its custody when the clash took place.
Nigeria has been accusing Cameroon of not doing enough to contain the insurgents who launch many attacks against the country from their territory.

Cameroon has denied the allegations and recently deployed 1000 troops to its far north border, apparently after the Paris security summit at which leaders of Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin agreed to fight against terrorism in west and central Africa.
Boko Haram is reportedly getting its supply of arms and ammunition through Nigeria’s porous borders with the neighbours.

Cameroon should take fighting the terrorists more seriously at this stage, because it’s going to be their problem in the long run and as we all know northern cameroon is not fully happy with Yaounde.
