Our camp is bubbling with sweetness, says Falcons coach

Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon, has assured that his players are “bubbling with sweetness” and ready to take on Mali in Saturday’s Olympic qualifier.

The team has been working to perfect their strategies and Okon disclosed that the players are mentally ready to beat the same team they denied 2015 All-Africa Games’ ticket.

“Our camp is bubbling with sweetness. You can see that preparations are high; we are not sleeping and we cannot sleep,” he told thenff.com.

“We just have to work to make sure that we beat Mali well here so that when we get to their turf we won’t have to do too much work there. We are mentally, tactically and physically ready.”

His assistant, Justine Madugu, added that the Super Falcons were not going to leave anything to chance.

“We are working on all departments of the team. The fact that it is a knockout competition – both home and away – means we need to take advantage of our playing at home first to score as many goals as possible so that the second leg will be much more comfortable for us,” Madugu said.

“We will also not take it for granted that we beat them silly (8-0) in the All-Africa Games qualifiers. We are working hard to perfect lapses noticed in the AAG qualifiers and to improve on them. So we are not taking anything to chance.”

The first leg of the encounter is scheduled for May 9 at the Abuja National Stadium.
