The Akwa Ibom state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has asked aggrieved politicians to sheathe their swords.
Akwa Ibom has been involved in crisis in the last three days over the invasion of the state house of assembly by thugs suspected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his reaction, Ndueso Ekwere, CAN chairman said the issue at the assembly could have been resolved amicably.
“CAN wishes to remind everyone in Akwa Ibom State no matter his or her standing that no one holds the monopoly of citizenship of the State freely given to us by God himself,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Politicians from which ever direction should know that God will hold anybody who directly or indirectly initiates or causes crises in the State.
“We condemn in very strong terms political instability and confusion just introduced into the state which God has blessed with sustainable peace so far.
“We call on all parties concerned to sheath their swords in the interest of their father land.”
