Carson advises aspirants with financial difficulty to step down

Ben Carson, Republican presidential hopeful has called on fellow aspirants to pull out of the race if they do not have the money and support to continue.

Carson, who currently polls third, behind Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina in the Republican party, made controversial declarations against Muslims in the US on Sunday.

He said he would not advocate that a Muslim becomes president of the United States, adding that Islam is inconsistent with the country’s constitution.

Following Scott Walker’s disengagement from the race, Carson said others who do not have the money and support to continue should do likewise.

“We have way too many candidates and for those people who are not obviously gaining any traction, why not clear the way,” he said.

“I think that’s a very logical thing, but it’s not a thing that people are likely to listen to. My litmus test would be logic. Obviously, if you don’t have money and you don’t have support, what the heck are you doing there?”

Walker pulled out of the race on Monday, after polling at less than 1% in the latest poll for the Republican ticket hopefuls.

“Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive, conservative message can rise to the top of the field. With this in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately,” Walker said as he pulled the plug on his campaign.

Carson commended Walkers decision to clear the field, saying: “I think he’s a very admirable person to have taken the tact that he did.”

According to CNN, prominent Muslim groups have also called on the world class neurosurgeon to drop out based on his religious comments.
