Asue Ighodalo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo governorship election, says he was relieved after a court of appeal dismissed a case seeking to disqualify him.
On Friday, the court of appeal in Abuja dismissed an appeal seeking to disqualify Ighodalo as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the September 21 election.
The appeal was filed by governorship aspirants Arthur Esene and Anselm Ojezua.
Esene and Ojezua had approached the appellate court seeking to overturn the judgment of the Abuja federal high court which dismissed their suit.

James Omotosho, a federal high court judge, had dismissed their suit for being statute-barred.
Speaking at a rally in Uromi and Igueben, Ighodalo said the case affected his campaign.
“We have our colleague who went to court. I would have preferred that we work together as one and that saddens me,” he said.

“I am just relieved because the court cases are distractions and they are affecting our campaigning processes. These kinds of problems within the party are not necessary.
“I am hoping that we come together and work as one strong indivisible party and team for the betterment of the good people of Edo State.”
