A building under construction in the Obalende area of Lagos has collapsed.
The building is located at 60 Odo street, Obalende in Eti-Osa local government area.
A Twitter user, @SisiEkoSalewa, shared videos of rescue operations from the collapse site.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its emergency response plan has been activated.

“Collapsed building at No, 60 Odo Street, Obalende, Eti-Osa. The attention of the agency has been brought to a building under construction at the above-mentioned address which has partially collapsed. The emergency response plan has been activated,” it wrote on Twitter.

Giving an update of rescue operations, Nosa Okunbor, LASEMA head of public affairs, said: “Upon arrival at the incident scene, a 3 storey building under construction was discovered to have self-collapsed”.
“The cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained, but efforts are presently ongoing by LASEMA and other responders towards salvaging the situation.
“As at 17:40hrs, a total of 8 people (all males) have been extricated alive by the LASEMA Response Team and other Stakeholders, and have been attended and quickly transferred to the hospital by LASEMA Paramedics for further medical attention at Lagos Island General hospital.”

Okunbor said four people, three males and one female, have been recovered dead from the rubbles.
