Catholic priest abducted in Delta

Muhammad Mustafa, Delta state commissioner of police, has confirmed the abduction of Emmanuel Obadjere, a Catholic priest.

Obadjere was abducted alongside three others on Tuesday.

The victims were said to have been kidnapped on their way to Ekpoma, Edo state.

Mustafa said a suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime.

He added that the command is working hard to rescue the victims.

“The kidnappers have started calling, but you know, we do not encourage paying ransom,” Mustafa said.

“We will definitely ensure that they are released. One suspect has been arrested within the area of the incident.”

The priest is said to have been in charge of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, the administrative headquarters of Okpe local government area of Delta.

According to NAN, a source claimed that the kidnappers have established contact with the church and the family members of the victims.
