Daoud Yaya Brahim has resigned as the Chadian defence minister after a sex tape involving government officials was leaked.
According to Tchad One, a local media, Brahim resigned late Tuesday night after multiple attempts to exonerate himself and denied being in the leaked video.
The former minister also reportedly tried to remedy the situation by imprisoning two girls.
“We demand the immediate release of Shona and Mariam, unjustly detained in the ANS premises,” the report said.

Haliki Choua Mahamat, the government’s general secretary, also tendered his resignation a few hours later after a different sex tape showing him in the company of a young woman was leaked on social media.
Mahamat had been indignant “at the exposure of his private life” and announced his intention to file a complaint in court.
“Prime Minister Saleh Kebzabo accepted the resignations of defence minister Daoud Yaya Brahim and the government’s general secretary Haliki Choua Mahamat,” a terse statement said without giving further details.

Jeune Afrique, a French magazine, reports that President Mahamat Idriss Déby and Kebzabo had asked the officials to resign so as to enable the Chadian government to effectively transition to democratic rule without any scandals.
