Chairmanship aspirants meet amid controversy over APC national convention

As the controversy over the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention heats up, aspirants for the position of national chairman are meeting to ensure a hitch-free exercise ahead of the 2023 general election.

Mohammed Saidu Etsu who is an aspirant from Niger state met with Tanko Almakura, former Nasarawa governor, at his residence in Abuja on Wednesday.

”Governor Almakura is a patriot and it is important we close ranks from the north-central zone before getting other zones onboard,” Estu told journalists.

“We are in a race not war, our party is key and to make progress we must keep talking until the convention.”

Uncertainty hangs over the APC national convention scheduled for February as some party stakeholders want the date shifted while others are insisting on keeping it.

TheCable learnt a national chairman of the party could emerge by consensus and the convention non-elective.
